Hi blog. It's been a while huh. I've been preoccupied with... uh... stuff. Haha.

Here to share my latest favourite sad song. So much yearning in this song, it almost makes me want to cry.

Kris Allen - I Need to Know

Life's been blinding me from what I thought I'd see
Is there clarity in this insanity yeah
What you want from me yeah

Roads in front of me taking me astray
Are you leaving me or are you leading the way
Can you hear what I'm saying

I need to know
I need to know
I need to know
I need to know

Feel like I'm trying to breathe underwater
Trying to climb back but keep falling farther yeah
Will you take my hand?

Feel so far away, want to see your face
Are you even there? Can you show me?
Can you make me believe?

I need to know
I need to know
I need to know
I need to know

I need to know

I need to know

Hello blogosphere!

It's been a while since I posted huh...... I've been distracted. Heh. By a certain adorable/sexy singer/songwriter/musician who may have won a big reality tv series in the past month or two. :) I haven't been this fangirly since... highschool. Terrible. Is this a quarter life crisis? Oh noeeessss! Hehe.

On the topic of age, I realise (or have been realising for a while now) that this is the time in my life when I'll be attending tons of weddings. In the past year, my two high school best friends got married within the span of 3 months, and my two ex-colleagues got married within the span of 2 months! Off to attend another ex-colleague's wedding in July too!

So here I am with pictures (and the occasional commentary)! xD

Four Weddings (and no funeral) ^^

Janenee and Sam - Nov 08

So in November last year, I flew to Melbourne to be the bridesmaid for Janenee, my old high school friend who used to live near my house, who used to say that she would get married in jeans. Haha how times have changed. She had the prettiest gown... and we braved the freezing temperature (in what country is summer freakin 15 degrees?!?!) in our strapless gowns to traipse across Melbourne city to take photos. :)

About to start the wedding procession

Drizzling and freezing... doesn't look like it huh?

Random poses at the Parliament House

Chiaying and Erik - Feb 09
Next! Chiaying, my other high school close friend, who I remember fondly for her penchant to laugh like a psycho and do other embarassing things... heehee. Her actual church wedding was in KK, during CNY, so I didn't go. :( I did go to her wedding dinner in KL though. :) Pictures shamelessly stolen off facebook.

Erik and Chiaying singing a song he wrote for her. Aww.
Fuzzy picture coz my camera sucks. o_O

Joy and Ken - April 09

Hi Joy, if you're reading this! This was held, again, in Melbourne, but she came back for a dinner banquet thingy, where Sheryl sang a beautiful rendition of "To Make You Feel My Love" with Jo playing keyboard, and we had a reunion of sorts among colleagues. Joy you looked positvely radiant that night!

Reunion!

Congratulating the bride
Cindy and Gurnam - June 09

Cindy Joon was born in June and got married in June... to a nice Punjabi man. Heehee ^^ This was by far the most eye-opening experience, since I've never been to a Sikh wedding before. It was cool, we donned Punjabi suits and covered our heads and witnessed her beautiful marriage in a Sikh temple.

Punjabi-wannabes ^^
Janenee, Chiaying, Joy, and Cindy - I am so happy that you found your other half, your companion down this long road that is life. Each of your weddings hold a special place in my heart. :)

And now on to my next question... are you starting a FAMILY soon? Hmm? Hmm?

A few random thoughts on AI

First of all, watch the following video:

This was taken AFTER the results show. Kris and Adam obviously love and respect each other, so why can't the rest of the world do the same? It's astonishing and incredibly annoying that there are so many Kris-haters out there, just because Adam didn't win. If GLAMbert himself has recognised that Kris is talented and said that Kris more than deserves the AI title, who are the rest of us to say otherwise? It just pisses me off so much, all of the backlash that's going on. Especially the comments that Kris has no talent at all, that Kris only won coz the homophobic portion of America only voted for him coz they didn't want Adam to win, that all the Gokey fans went and voted for Kris. How bout they stop hating Kris for just doing what he does best, and start blaming themselves for not voting enough? That said, it is just a show after all, and both Kris and Adam will move past it and become whatever it is they're meant to be.

Bottomline: Don't take away Kris's moment in the limelight, y'all.

Okay, rant over.

A few more random thoughts:

1. Adam looked like some anime fighter character during his performance with KISS, what with those glitzy shoulderpads and his awesome makeup. Pretty! Haha... half the girls in this world wish they were as pretty as him. ;)

2. KISS freaks me out. And they can't sing for nuts. They can rock though.

3. Kris Allen + Keith Urban duet = AMAZING! Both of them jamming on their guitars... such a cute, happy little duet. I would so totally buy this single.

4. Randy's "for me, for you" montage = LMAO. It was really funny dawg, for me, for you.

5. Ditto to Paula and her big words. My favourite was "visceral reaction". LOL

7. Alison got to perform with Cyndi Lauper! Cool.... the duet somehow felt a little "not in sync" though, don't know why.

9. Jason Mraz! At least Anoop got a little moment of glory there.

10. Kris Allen + Adam Lambert + Queen = best performance EVAR. They really rocked it out, and looked like they were having the time of their lives doing so. That little hug in the middle of the performance, SO CUTE! We are the champions is one of the greatest songs of all time. Also, Danny Gokey - this is how a duet is done.

11. Hate to admit it, but No Boundaries is actually growing on me. Did ya see the laugh they exchanged right before Kris had to take the stage and sing that song again? Hohoho... Bet Adam's relieved he doesn't have to sing that song. That said, the studio version is actually pretty decent. :)

12. Kris hugging his wife Katy at the end... incredibly sweeeeeet. :)

Overall, a fantastic season of American Idol, I think. My favourite Final Two ever, equally deserving, and seemingly really decent people. Can't wait to see what they're up to in the years to come. The Finale Results show was perfect. Now if only the haters would stop hating. :)

We love you Kris!

In the Land of TV

... OMG KRIS ALLEN I AM SO SO PROUD OF YOU!!! You braved the insurmountable odds (mountains and hurricanes LOL) and emerged a winner! Love, love, love. I'm just worried now... there's gotta be tremendous backlash because so many expected Adam to win. I bet there are lots of people saying that he doesn't deserve it... but he does!!! He deserves it so much... he's made it so far... I'm just. Happy. :)

... so Prison Break has finally ended. Four seasons of pain, death, conspiracies, turmoil... and it has finally ended. The ending was bittersweet.

... I wanna watch Dollhouse. Gonna start a downloading spree tonight. And no, it's not a show where little girls play with dolls. ^^

... I am here to pimp another NEW show...

Clickety-click!

Glee is a new TV series about a bunch of misfits (and a quarterback) whose love for singing and dancing bring them together. The story seems rather like High School Musical on the surface - popular guy finds out that he can sing and enjoys it... a girl with amazing talent who can't quite fit in... it is that, minus the cheesiness and goody-two-shoes vibe of HSM. It's produced by the guy who created Nip/Tuck, after all. I felt inexplicably drawn to the show after watching the trailer above and proceeded to download the first episode.

And I'm lovin' it! I love the singing - they have such a talented cast... I love the smooth production numbers... I like the quirky offbeat humour... Can't hardly wait for the next episode, which will only come out in FALLLLLLL... sometime in September/October... such a long dreary wait!

WATCH IT PEOPLE GO WATCH IT!

Off to watch the AI Finale! WOOOOOT Kris Allen!!! :)

Be Warned: Massive Fangirling ahead!

Oh hello blog, I've been neglecting you for far too long! So the month of May is afoot, and there is more fangirling to be done!

First things first:

Kris Allen FTW!!!

I don't care what the judges say... Kris deserves to be in the Top 3. He had practically no air time during the audition rounds... yet he came out of nowhere during the semis and surprised us week after week with consistent performances, and really, just stole our hearts with his heartfelt renditions of To Make You Feel My Love and Falling Slowly. It doesn't hurt that he plays both guitar and the piano. It doesn't hurt that he has puppydog eyes and a smile so sweet it could melt the coldest heart.

Haha. Fangirling much? ;)

And as much as I know that Adam is the more entertaining performer (with superior vocal pipes), I still think (and feel) (and believe with full conviction) that Kris is the one that connects most with the audience. That emotional lilt in his voice... that can't be faked. (Or maybe it's just my hormones, hoho) .

So yes, I am completely a Kris fan. And what Kris fan would I be without posting up PICTURES???

Kris in a suit. ^^

Kris and wife - what a cute couple!

Kris and guitar... HOT.

I haven't loved someone on Idol this much since... Elliot Yamin.

Next,
Heroes Season 3 Finale

If you have yet to watch the finale of season 3, don't read the rest of this post if you don't wanna be spoiled!

I just have two comments to make and two photos to post about the finale...

1. How freaking HOT was Peter Petrelli?

I mean, I loved it when Peter was depowered - he was all earnest and brave and noble. But man... when Peter is powerful... he just radiates HOTNESS. Haha... I know, not very coherent, it's the hormones talking, you see. ;) That smirk on his face, the slight huskiness of his voice... I just. Wow. The scene where he jammed the needle into Sylar and said "betcha didn't know I took that power from you huh"... I watched that scene at least 5 times. Now... gaze upon the countenance of badass Peter in a leather jacket and fire illuminating his face... woohoo!

2. On a sadder and less hormonal note... RIP Nathan. :(

What a sad, sad, insignificant way to die. What is sadder is that he had just stopped being the complete ass he was throughout the whole of volume 4... to have him die that way... And not even to be mourned properly because the people who matter (Peter and Claire) don't even know he is dead.... and to have freaking mummy-issues-SYLAR be brainwashed into thinking he is Nathan. Blearghhhhh. Real Nathan, the one who sacrificed himself to fly his brother up into the sky in season 1... the Nathan that I grew to love, is gone.

*sniffles*

That said, I still can't wait for Season 4, Volume 5. Waiting with bated breath, as always.

Twilight

I am a little ashamed to admit that I've finished the entire Twilight book series. Haha... it can't be compared (ever) to the brilliance of Harry Potter, of course... but part of me enjoyed it. Haha. Not too big a fan of the overtly-sappy Edward/Bella romance. But I must say that there are two characters that I really really like (and almost love): Jasper and Alice!

I like tortured characters with a tragic past... Jasper is one such character. His love for Alice, or rather, their love for each other, feels the most real. Anyway the point of this is not to go into a discourse about Jasper, but to also say that Jasper is HOT! Look at this pic of the movie!Jasper.

Vampire love!

OMG I think my IQ just dropped 10 points from the sheer fangirlyness and shallowness of this post. Sheryl... think I've managed to rival your fangirly post. Hehe.

I guess approaching the age of 26 hasn't diminished my fangirlyness at all. One thing about being this age though... my metabolism is finally FAILING me. I haven't changed my diet or exercise patterns at all (that is to say, I still eat a lot and don't exercise at all)... and yet, I'm putting on weight. Sigh. What a sad, sad fact!

Ah well, life goes on. And I shall go on eating and not exercising!

Mummy's birthday tomorrow... happy birthday shoutout to the most important woman in my life! Love you!

I've done things I'm not proud of.
I have a number of regrets.
I am frequently selfish, arrogant and unlovable.

Yet, I know,
that despite all this,
however undeserving I am...

God loves me.

Today, of all days, reminds me of that unwavering truth.

Thank You God! :)

Simple and Heartfelt, please

I love this season of American Idol!

Was so inspired by the beautiful performances this week that I just had to blog about it. Haha.

Who knew that Grand Ole Opry week - Country week, could be such a good week for so many singers.

One thing I realise about American Idol judges (especially Kara) is that a lot of them like that Climax, the Glory Note at the end of the song, the Huge, Strong, Powerful vocals. I like those powerful Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey-type songs also lah, but sometimes the quiet, heartfelt performances, stripped down to nothing but the singing voice and the raw emotion... those are the performances that resonate with me.

And this week we had many of those! I like! So nice...... *melts*

Time to embed some Youtube videos! :)

Here are my top 3 fave performances:

1. Kris Allen - To Make You Feel My Love

OMG one of the most beautiful, romantic performances I've seen on American Idol. Of course it helps that he has adorable, droopy eyes and smooooth vocals. So quiet and simple, yet so mesmerizing... I'm in love!

2. Anoop Desai - You Were Always On My Mind

Anoooooop! I've liked Anoop since the very beginning... great to see him redeem himself from the Michael Jackson week. I love this song, love his rendition of it, love the emotion behind it.

3. Matt Giraud - So Small

Wah he has mad piano skillz. Another performance that resonated with me... Really like the slightly husky tone of his voice.

Who's number 4 on my list this week?
That would be Danny Gokey! :) Could really see his faith shine through. :)

My thoughts on the other performers:

The ones I didn't quite like:

Michael Sarver - kinda bland. The kind of country music I don't like.

Alexis Grace - I remember Brooke White singing Jolene last season, and I remember really liking her performance. Alexis seemed kinda unnatural... almost fake.

Scott MacIntrye - I actually like Scott and think he's an amazing individual. But his performances kinda sound the same week after week... don't know if he has what it takes to advance in this competition, sadly.

The ones I quite liked:

Alison Iraheta - Rock chick can sing country too! I like Alison, so mature for her 16 years of age.

Lil Rounds - RnB chick can sing country too! Not as bad as the judges made it out to be.

Megan Joy - I like her quirky style lah. Don't quite like her jerky arm movements, but I actually enjoy her voice and her offbeat performances. She's quite the contradiction -- she's so pretty but she has this hugeass tattoo on her arm, she looks like a pop singer but she just marches to her own tune. Entertaining.

Adam Lambert - Haha... love it or hate it, his performance is the one everyone's talking about. He's SO unabashedly flamboyant... I was kinda entertained. It was a weird performance though... the good kind of weird. I think. Haha.

--- long-winded rambling ends here ---

Oh man it's gonna be tough to watch eliminations every week... there are so many contestants that I like!!!

Ah, Reality TV, you are my best friend. ^^

Toodles.

One week to Japan and I am EXCITED!

A certain Japanese man.

Who plays guitar. I love guitar players.
