Mummy looking pretty, Wen Shi acting cute
[Clockwise from top left]
(1) Grilled barramundi fish and shrimp in Bourbon sauce, served on a bed of mashed potatoes and tortilla chips - Amazingly good. I'm not usually a big fan of fish, but this was fan-freaking-tastic.
(2) Cajun shrimp and garlic bread - My favourite dish - the prawns are succulent, salty and spicy. Best garlic bread I've ever had. And I've had a LOT of garlic bread. Especially good when dipped in the cajun spices/chili oil in the pan.
(3) Shrimp scampi - Linguini tossed with lemon butter sauce, shrimp and capers - MMM. It's like aglio olio, with lemon butter as the substitute to olive oil. Oily cheesy buttery goodness.
(4) Strawberry lemonade and mango sparkler drinks - Perfect antidotes to a heavy meal.
Just a note: Scrumpleecious = scrumptious + delicious, as coined by a French girl in an Enid Blyton book. Heehee don't know why I remember that...
Run Forrest Run! I heart Bubba Gump!
Then we went to 1U and shopped. For some reason, both mummy and Wen Shi bought more stuff than me. No fair! Haha... At night we ate at Izzi, Damansara Uptown, with daddy in tow. More pizza, pasta and lasagna!
Now for the other end of the extreme... the 30 hour famine.
This year was harder than the previous two years... I wonder why. It could be that I ate a light dinner the previous night, and only ate 1 fried egg and 1 hash brown in the morning before the fast began... but I had a headache the whole of Saturday (partly due to the screams of the crazy hyper participants and booming speakers), and felt quite weak parts of Sunday morning. Or maybe I'm just growing old! Hehe.
We fasted, walked barefoot for 6 hours, slept in a lecture theatre, sat huddled under an umbrella stand in the heavy rain, and watched Guang Liang (insert fangirly squeal here) sing beautifully.
And when I got home from the famine I stuffed my face with MORE garlic bread! WoOohOoo garlic bread rocks my socks! :D
So that's how I spent the first few days of my twenty-fifth year of life.
I shall now end this post with a very simple but nonetheless meaningful saying by Forrest Gump, as posted on the wall of Bubba Gump:
It's been an interesting year... Some mistakes made and some lessons learnt.
But God has been good!
I have been blessed with a whole lot of love from my family and my friends. :)
Many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.
The man in action
FUAH my heart almost stopped during Round 2 when Chong Wei started making mistakes and losing all those points to Hyun il... but then he pulled it together and played an AWESOME rubber match and HELLO Olympic Medal!!!Collapsing in relief
There's something incredibly HOT about badminton players... I can't explain it. It's the grace with which they leap from one side of the court to the other, it's the amazingly nimble footwork, it's the way they jump up high into the air and execute flawless, breath-taking smashes. Wow. Breathless, I am. Watching that badminton match was exhilarating.
I don't know, but basketball players, swimmers, football players, tennis players... all of them just can't compare to the strong yet graceful and incredibly versatile badminton players. Lee Chong Wei is hot! Not so much when he's off-court, but in-game, every leap into the air, every flawlessly executed move, every gleam of victory in his eyes...... *be still my beating heart* Hehe.
Badminton is definitely my favourite spectator sport. I'll be watching the Finals!
