Give Me My Food Now, Please
I'm hungry. :(
But I've been having some weird intermittent form of diarrhoea (screw the spelling) so I decided to stay off dinner to let my poor abused stomach rest and now it's 10 something pm and stomach acid is burning a big gaping hole in my poor abused stomach lining.
I need my stomach! I like my food! I want my dinner!
And now I sound like a petulant child. Haha. Well I am a petulant child, so get used to it. And this is my blog, which nobody reads anyway, so I can be as petulant as I want.
And as verbose as I want, apparently.
Okay end of cranky crabby whiny phase.
You know, I really don't know how to deal with hunger pangs.
I have been, for the past hour, reading Malaysian foodie blogs. And man, there are about a dozen restaurants that I want to go to right now, and more than a dozen foods that I am craving right now, and all I have is a big empty stomach churning with acid. GAH.
Okay I mean it. No more whining. Sorry!
I think one of my great ambitions in life is to be a food critic. I mean, imagine. You get paid to go
to expensive yummy restaurants and stuff yourself till you feel like throwing up. But of course, that would require:
1: really good writing skillz, and;
2: the ability to eat large quantities in one sitting without throwing up
BOTH of which, I do not possess.
I have really good whining skillz - many people will attest to that. But the ability to wax lyrical and sell food and give a good critique on the food I'm eating? I don't have that. Coz I most probably find EVERYTHING nice, and call everything "yummy". So much for my descriptive skillz huh? And... yeah, last time I realllllly stuffed myself: strands of puked-out angel hair pasta strewn across a grass patch in a parking lot. At least I didn't puke on my friends. Haha.
So food-critic career? Out! How do people start this kinda career anyway?
I can, however, post pretty pictures of the pretty food that I had the pleasure to sink my teeth into in the US of A. Yum.
Behold!
And Drool!
And Crave coz I am Craving and I want to spread the disease!
Droolworthy Decadent Delightful Desserts
Left to Right! Top to Bottom!
1. Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse Cake - Rich and creamy, melts in your mouth. Decadent, I tell you, decadent! I only had a few bites, as this was Win's dessert, and I was a little preoccupied with my precious little creme brulee (see point number 3!).
2. Caramelised Cheese Cake with Berries - Oh MAN! I love all things caramelised. This! This rivals my all-time favourite Secret Recipe Caramel Cheesecake. Ren's choice, and a good one.
3. Creme Brulee - I know all you see is whipped cream but MAN was it yummy. Melt-in-your-mouth I-want-to-keep-eating-it-till-I-drop-dead kinda yummy. Even Eddy (our very very nice and accommodating LA host), who eats less than us and proclaimed he was stuffed even before he finished the main course ate a few bites and proclaimed it GOOD.
4. Triple Chocolate Cake with strawberries - Best Molten Chocolate Cake Ever. I feel the need to Capslock everything coz it was THAT GOOD. Chocolate at its best.
5. Ben and Jerry's chocolate fudge cookie dough icecream - we ate this in San Fran. While it was freezing outside and gusts of wind threatened to blow everything away, we sat in the nice cozy Ben and Jerry's restaurant and indulged. Indulgently.
6. Burger King's Hershey's Sundae Pie and Butterfinger Creme Pie and Cheesy Tots! - Okay I know the last one isn't a dessert but I ran out of pretty dessert pictures. MAN. I can't believe they make icecream pies out of CHOCOLATE, but they do. Yaay for me! And cheesy tots are the best fried-cheese thingies I've ever eaten. I miss it I miss it *drool drool drool*
Pretty Plethora of Pastas
1. Shell Pasta in Creole-Mustard sauce - Win's dinner - Spicy like hell but REAL GOOD. But REALY SPICY. So obviously, being the lousy-spicy-threshold person that I am, couldn't take much of it.
2. Grilled Shrimp Caprese with Angel Hair Pasta at Olive Garden - aaah mixed feelings. The prawns, so succulent and flavourful. The garlic butter sauce, so utterly delicious and pleasing. The pasta, so stringy and chewy. And yet... and yet, I puked. This meal. It was yummy while it lasted. REAL yummy.
3. Four-Cheese Penne Pasta at Olive Garden - Win's dinner. Cheesy and Rich and Yum!
4. Mushroom Ravioli at Olive Garden - Ren's dinner. It looks little but boy is it filling! The mushroom insides were delish. But filling. Waaaay too filling.
Other Gastronimical Delights
1. Crab Cakes and Sweet Potato Fries - Crab cakes, I tell you. Food for the soul. And sweet potato fries, surprisingly yummy.
2. Sumptious Starters - Fried Mozarella Cheese, Stuffed Mushrooms, Fried Calamari - YUM!
3. Hugemongous Pizzas - Yes, US is pizza heaven. Win and Ren WERE in heaven. :)
4. Chilli Cheese Dog - YUM! I love US chilli more than Malaysian chilli. It's this slightly spicy tomato and bean concotion that works amazingly well with cheese and hot dogs. YUM.
5. Stinkin Garlic Pizza - Ate this in San Fran. Yes, those are actual garlic cloves. And let me tell you, it is YUMMY! And it causes garlic breath. Haha. My poor travel-mates.
6. Denny's BREAKFAST FOOD with BACON GALORE! - No blog post is complete without mention of BACON. Salty oily fatty BACON. I love bacon. I miss bacon. This came, of course with buttermilk pancakes and yummy eggs, and heavenly hash browns and sausage and ham. But the BACON..... *drool*
Evidently, blogging about food does nothing for your hunger pangs. Oh well, screw hunger pangs. I'm going to go off and drool at more food photos. Toodles!
