Singapore Roars but Malaysia Boleh!
For the past 6 years, without fail, I have journeyed via the Nice Bus to meet up with my many many friends living in the pretty island set in the sea.
Most people visit Singapore for two things: Shopping and Food.
I did both!
But not in the conventional way that people do it.
Instead of shopping for clothes, we went to the Wet Market to shop for Groceries.
Instead of eating out, we cooked up a storm.
So Domesticated!!! someone give me a pat on the back. :)
As the glorified Kitchen Hand, I was given the EXTREMELY important task of...
Washing Crabs.
I spent TWO HOURS washing crabs okay... the crabs were STINKY and full of GRIME and I spent two hours scrubbing away at the toilet sink (coz Singaporean kitchens are super duper small) to get the crabs squeaky clean and thus fit for eating.
This was the end result:
Super Spicy Chilli Crab
Apparently it was good. After two hours of being intimately acquainted with the crabs, I couldn't bring myself to eat them. Anyway, I have come to the conclusion that it is extremely unworth it to cook/eat crab. First you have to kill it, then you have to wash it, then you have to cook it, then you have to peel it... and what do you get? Less meat than the meat on a single chicken wing. I'd rather eat chicken wings all day. Speaking of chicken wings, behold, with awe, my favourite food of all time:
Super Salty Shrimp Paste Chicken
My once-a-year delicacy and constant craving. No one makes it like my ex-housemate Esther makes it! Deep fried to crispy perfection. Amazingly succulent and tasty. I miss it already!
Besides these, we also ate: Sotong Balls, Yau Char Kwai with Fish Paste Filling, Fried Noodles, Curried Eggs, Lamb Curry, some cool vegetable wrap thingy... SO MUCH FOOD! To think that we used to do this almost every weekend in Adelaide. It's a miracle that I didn't become obese. :p
Singapore was great and meeting up with old friends made me feel all nostalgic and sentimental about the four years I spent there, in that cozy little corner of Townhouse 4, Adelaide.
The old friends
The old married couple (who are in denial)

And on that note, I wish you happy new year and bid you adieu. :)
